THE GOON SQUAD

Move over, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

Didn’t get invited to Fashion Week at Lincoln Center? Williamsburg Fashion Weekendhas your front-row seat to see cutting-edge fashions by young up-and-coming designers. The event’s founder and curator, Arthur Arbit, is himself a designer and artist (his label is King Gurvy) with a passion for raw, forward-thinking creativity. He and his showcase, now in its eighth season, explore innovative ways to display fashion design and re-evaluate the fashion industry. Past participants have offered many creative ways to be green, through recouturing, recycling, and artisan techniques. This season will focus on the experimental as more than a dozen emerging designers conjure up new ways to define fashion. Designers showing tonight include Ruffeo Hearts Lil’ Snotty, Lana Weiss, and No Name Collective, with live music by Void Vision and Small Time Thug, among others.
Fri., Feb. 18, 8 p.m.; Sat., Feb. 19, 8 p.m., 2011
