LADIES' NIGHT

Only female rappers and DJs allowed

Flipmode Squad rapper Rah Digga is still rapping in nonstop flurries, still constantly in battle mode, and still releasing some of the most slept-on rap records in existence. Most recently was last year's resolutely knocking Classic, a no-nonsense, no-mercy 33 minutes where no one sings a hook—what else can you expect from a woman who has at least five songs called "Straight Spittin' "? Tonight, she headlines Ladies First, an evening featuring a slew of female MCs, female DJs, and even a female-shot photo exhibit. Also on the bill is grimy Canadian MC Eternia, whose clubrat attire may have you thinking she's a Ke$ha clone, but her badass demeanor, Tunnel-era tongue-twisters, and affinity for deafening boom-bap make her simply a force of nature—check for her debut on Fat Beats in June. Also on the bill tonight: joyous Harlem rhymespitter Likwiud (whose jazzy "Camel Toe" deserves to be a Khia-sized cult hit), Philly rap-and-soulster Zarinah; and nimble Brooklyn MC Nitty Scott.
