Pour some whiskey, bite a cigar, and lower your hat—it's Johnny Cash's 79th Birthday Bash, an annual (always sold-out) tribute to the Man in Black. Cash fan and founder of Brooklyn Country Music Festival and CasHank Hootenanny Jamboree, Alex Battles, along with his band the Whiskey Rebellion, play a few original tunes before dedicating themselves to Cash hits and rarities, while archivist Clinton McClung provides a new selection of rare Cash television and film performances. Whether Cash inspired you to live like an outlaw or got you through some Cocaine Blues, his birthday is a day for fans to pay homage to him the way he would have wanted it, ". . . just so we're reminded of the ones who are held back/Up front there ought to be a man in black."
