The Celestial Septet is the Voltron-like collaboration between San Francisco's Rova Saxophone Quartet and the Nels Cline Singers, the latter led by the noise-guitar veteran who currently plays in Wilco. According to the liner notes from the group's recent album, Celestial is a "vehicle for time and space travel through dense, narrow thickets and airy, wide expanses of boundary-blurred extrapolations of jazz, rock, late-20th-century European modernism and..." Well, you get the idea.
