Annie Gosfield

Technologies old and new clamor and collide in the world premiere of Gosfield's Daughters of the Industrial Revolution, a concert-length work for acoustic and electric ensembles in ideological opposition. Gosfield has a startling knack for transforming the sounds of science and technology into inventive music: this work contrasts modern electronics with the sounds of the junkyards and sweatshops her immigrant grandparents experienced on the Lower East Side. Stephen Gosling will also perform "Lightning Slingers and Dead Ringers," a work for piano and sampler.
Fri., March 4, 8 p.m.; Sat., March 5, 8 p.m., 2011
