Dir. Elia Kazan (1956). Tennessee Williams concocted this mad Actors Studio farce, Kazan's only comedy, in which a Mississippi child bride who refuses to allow her glad-handing husband to touch her, gets seduced (maybe) by his hated, ultra-ethnic rival. New York archbishop Francis Cardinal Spellman warned that seeing the movie was in itself a sin.
