Wallace Shawn, the actor and witty author of numerous plays and screenplays (but who will perhaps always be best known as the criminal Vizzini in The Princess Bride), teams up again with director Scott Elliott (The Fever, Aunt Dan and Lemon) for a revival of his 1979 dark comedy Marie and Bruce. Presented Off-Broadway by the New Group, the play follows the titular couple (played by Marisa Tomei and Frank Whaley) on the day their marriage breaks down. After the dysfunctional couple start their morning with a bitter argument, they go about their day in the city separately with the plan to meet up at a dinner party that night. Will they be able to reconcile?
Mondays-Wednesdays, 7 p.m.; Thursdays-Saturdays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 2 p.m. Starts: March 14. Continues through May 7, 2011
