Take a trip with Ben Katchor

Some may say that the best part of traveling is coming home again. But for xenophile Emile Delilah, the main character of cartoonist Ben Katchor's new graphic novel The Cardboard Valise, the best part of traveling is feeling completely out of place with his surroundings (or, as his shrink says, he has “a morbid love for every nation but his own"). Tonight, Katchor—the first cartoonist to ever win a MacArthur “Genius" Grant and whose musical theater works include the Obie-winning comic-book opera The Carbon Copy Building—will share Emile's many adventures in the fantastical land of Outer Canthus. After the presentation, he'll sign copies of the book, which comes with a built-in cardboard handle like a suitcase, so you can easily carry it on your journeys.
