More About

We didn't hear enough about The Morning World, the young bassist's slippery 2009 disc that encouraged pop-tinged themes to do some jazz-related business. Eerie tone poems, giddy prog twists, and a torn-from-the-headlines ditty entitled "The Sub-Prime Sword Claims Another" made it rather unique; yes, the latter piece was built on a barrage of jabs and thrusts. Past work with both Andrew Bird and Dave King provides a useful nexus when grokking Morrissey. This evening's group is filled with young smarties who put pliability to good use.
Thu., March 17, 9 & 10:30 p.m., 2011
