Who needs an MFA?
The age-old question continues: To get an MFA or not to get an MFA? The Bruce High Quality Foundation’s Teach 4 Amerika Tour: A Rally for Anarchy in Arts Education aims to start a conversation with the arts community about alternatives to the MFA degree and ways to make these programs better. Two years ago, as a response to overpriced university art degrees, the five-person collective created a temporary solution with their own free art institute downtown. Now they’re hitting the road—in a limo painted like a schoolbus, no less—to hold rallies and discussions at art schools, university art departments, and art institutions across the country. The Creative Time–sponsored event kicks off tonight (March 29) at Cooper Union.
