The religiously akimbo, lo-fi New Jersey masters of post-Christian oddity have returned after a five-year recording hiatus with a relatively slick new band and a questioning album called Best of Gloucester County. Bandleader Daniel Smith's high, yelping voice sounds even more tunefully deranged as he enters middle age, delivering head-scratching Christian allegories such as "Complimentary Dismemberment Insurance" alongside holy-fool transcendentalism. They still dress like Moravian Red Cross escapees, too. With Out Fighting.
