The Olivier Award–winning Cheek by Jowl stages Macbeth
Poor King Duncan has had dismal luck this season. First he's stabbed with a samurai sword in Ping Chong's Throne of Blood, then knifed by John Douglas Thompson during Theatre for a New Audience's production of the Scottish play. Now he'll be offed again in Cheek by Jowl's Macbeth. (Seriously, someone should stop the man from spending another night in Dunsinane, however pleasant its seat.) Cheek by Jowl's director, Declan Donnellan, and chief designer, Nick Ormerod, bring the Caledonian tragedy to the Brooklyn Academy of Music. London critics have already hailed their version as "a terrible and transfixing presence." Looks like it's curtains for Duncan again.
