Sharp, noisy, petulantly straightedge—Unbrokenwere just one of many pioneering punk bands to kick and scream from the ’90s San Diego underground. Their sound mixed that scene’s sensitive art-rock spaciousness with raw-throated aggression of their more macho New York brethren. After a pair of albums, the band called it quits in 1995, reforming only once for a benefit for the family of original guitarist Eric Allen, who passed away in 1998. Their short and sweet reunion tour hits a few of the major markets—Chicago, Los Angeles, London, New York, Austin—and is always for charity (this one is donating proceeds to Funds for Love, a fundraising effort for the family of Throwdown guitarist Tommy Love, whose father and brother died in the same weekend). Even hardcore reunions are still hardcore shows, so this thing starts mad early (5 p.m.!) and has about a billion bands on the bill, too, including Brooklyn’s own Indecision, Jesuit, Burning Love, XUnrestrainedX, and Psychic Limb.
