Polly Jean gets political

PJ Harvey’s terrific new album, Let England Shake, offers up the English singer-songwriter’s thoughts on the world’s armed conflicts, which is a subject matter three or four times more intense than she requires to intimidate an audience. Given the events that have ravaged the Middle East since the record’s release in February, it seems safe to assume that Harvey will basically scare the shit out of us this week at Terminal 5, where she and her band are playing two of only four sold-out U.S. shows currently scheduled in support of Let England Shake. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
