CRANK IT UP

A bad-ass bike show (for environmentalists)

If you get more excited over fixed gears than rims and would rather hear the words “low fuel-emission” than a loud muffler, the New Amsterdam Bicycle Showwill dazzle you like the the New York International Auto Show did the hot-rod lovers. At this show and benefit for Transport Alternatives, bike-lovers will drool over an exhibit, presented by Raleigh Bicycles, of new and classic bikes, featuring brands such as Bern Unlimited, Biomega, Jamis, and Specialized. There will also be an urban-bike fashion show, an indoor demo track to test those bikes you can’t wait to ride, and stationary roller races to show off your skills. Bikelandia, the seminar part of the show, will feature all-day readings, discussions, presentations, and artwork as well as a headlining presentation on urban youth cycling. Enjoy food by Bushwick-based caterers Farmcart, bike giveaways from Sweden’s Bike My Me and Cooper Bikes USA, and helmet giveaways from Nutcase every hour on the hour. What better way to kick off Bike Month NYC?
