It’s hardly contrarian to admit it, unless you subscribe to Us Weekly, but we don’t bloody care about the royal wedding going on across the pond today; it ain’t our taxes buying the filigreed carriages, saffron-and-opium apertifs, and whatever else is afoot over there. However, we’ll endlessly toast to the London that the Kills deliver: glamorously tough blues-rock, teetering at the lip of duo Alison Mosshart and Jamie Hince’s taut sexual chemistry and explosive yet heartfelt call-and-responses. Both have had their distracting dalliances lately—Mosshart with Jack White in the terrific Dead Weather, Hince with libertine supermodel fiancée Kate Moss—but new album Blood Pressures(their fourth) plants them squarely where they belong: with each other, and happily ferocious in a terrific new snap of tunes. They’re the real rock ’n’ roll deal, and don’t think they don’t know it. With Cold Cave and the Entrance Band.
