The place to be for avocado groupies
Some food competitions showcase itsy-bitsy designer plates of garnished foie gras and sorbet, but not this one. Keeping it simple, the second annual Guactacular, presented by Nachosny.com, is a guac'd-out event where 20 avocado fiends battle to prove that their dip, made with Mexican avocados, is the most delicious. Scoop up delicious green globs with Tostitos tortilla chips and wash it all down with beers by Brooklyn Brewery. Judging whose dish is truly the most "guactacular" are celebrity foodies Amy Cao (of Amy Blogs Chow and Foodspotting), Sarah De Heer (of the Food Network), Hagan Blount (of the blog The Wandering Foodie), Thu Tran (of the awesome cooking show Food Party), and Robert Santibanez (chef at Fonda). While you wait for the results, join in the scavenger hunt presented by the iPhone app Foodspotting. Chips, dip, and beer—what more could you ask for?
