Coliseum+the Austerity Program

Hardcore punk trio Coliseum have started transcending their genre, especially on their latest LP, House With a Curse, sounding more like descendants of the Replacements than of Black Flag. Throughout the disc, they leave space in their songs, sort-of sing in choruses and generally avoid the puffed-chest machismo that defined their peers barely five years ago. Similarly, their support tonight, Austerity Program, are equally progressive, playing drum-machine-driven hardcore which often sounds a bit like Fugazi or Big Black, depending on the mood. With two-bassist mathcore group the Year Is One.
