FOUND magazine is a delightful publication of found notes, photographs, and other interesting treasures that give a unique look into the private lives of total strangers. While on the road to promote the magazine, FOUND co-creator Davy Rothbart, who is also a contributor to This American Life, let director David Meiklejohn into his private (and somewhat tortured) love life to make a documentary about finding that special someone. The result is My Heart Is an Idiot, which features love advice from people in hundreds of cities, including Newt Gingrich, Zooey Deschanel, and Ira Glass (who tells Rothbart, “You’re saying that the question you’re facing is: Are you just fucked up?”). Catch a screening of the film tonight followed by a Q&A with Meiklejohn and Rothbart. The film will also be shown on May 18 at Littlefield (622 Degraw Street) in Brooklyn.
