Sorry, odd system of posting on here...
I just think that your point about "brown pride" would be better received if you didn't use words like "mick," "wop," and "honky."
I assume if someone responded to you using a similarly disrespectful word for a Hispanic/Latino you would not take them for an intelligent person.
I am a white immigrant to this country, not a racist or skinhead, and actually was curious about the connotations of "Brown Pride," because it does seem inherently racist to someone who does not understand the genesis of the term. And since it has been co-opted by a violent, no-doubt racist, gang I would think it should be used cautiously. As you point out about the meaning of "white," the meanings of words and phrases change with time.
I was at a bar in Manhattan recently when a beautiful "brown" (perhaps Indian, I didn't ask) girl made eyes with me and came to talk I felt quite lucky, but after a few sentences of hearing my accent she stopped me and asked, "Are you white or Russian?" My answer did not please her and she left, as I shook my head in dis-belief.
Anyway, I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but I guess I just have alot to learn about race relations in America and was somewhat surprised by your use of racist terms for white people.
