'Summerstage Festival Presents Yo-Yo Ma'

Now in its 25th year, the concert series in Central Park's Rumsey Playfield remains a quintessential New York experience, one on par with getting attacked by bedbugs while waiting for the G train. The free 2011 season starts with a bang tonight, thanks to virtuoso cellist Ma, whose Silk Road Project pairs Western musicians and instruments with their counterparts located along the trade routes that once connected Asia and the Middle East. Here, they perform a highly theatrical program that also includes ballet dancer Damian Woetzel, jazz singer Bobby McFerrin, and a gaggle of local sixth-graders.
Tue., June 7, 6:30 p.m., 2011
