Just about everybody has already proclaimed the late Roberto Bolaño, who died in 2003, one of the best fiction writers of the last century. But how does the author of 2666 and The Savage Detectives stack up in the realm of nonfiction? Find out tonight at Between Parentheses: Celebrating the Nonfiction of Roberto Bolaño, a reading and discussion of his essays collected in a new book published by New Directions. The program features translator Natasha Wimmer, novelist Francisco Goldman, author and co-editor of The Believer Heidi Julavits, Harper's contributing editor Wyatt Mason, and The Paris Revieweditor Lorin Stein, who edited the English-language versions of 2666 and The Savage Detectiveswhen he was at Farrar, Straus and Giroux.
