DIY STYLE

Shop for cool crafts and make some yourself

Started in 2003 in Chicago, the Renegade Craft Fair is now a traveling marketplace for indie artists and designers held annually in cities from L.A. to London. For the seventh year in a row, it drops into Brooklyn, featuring the wares of more than 300 vendors: You’ll find the affordable antique chic of Erica Weiner Jewelry (which, by the way, now has a cute brick-and-mortar shop in Nolita), handcrafted tableware by Clam Lab, plush pillows by Observatory Place, and organic soaps by Herban Lifestyle (their Orange Ginger Beer Shampoo Bar sounds good enough to eat). Enjoy coffee and treats while you shop and participate in activities such as DIY sewing workshops and a booth where you can make free friendship bracelets. In fact, you may even want to take home a new friend at Grateful Greyhounds, the rescue shelter for former racing dogs, which will have these elegant canines up for adoption.
