Last Tango in Paris

Dir. Bernardo Bertolucci (1973). A 20-year-old French dumpling (Maria Schneider) and 45-year-old American hipster (Marlon Brando) meet in an empty apartment for three afternoons of anonymous coupling and mutual, mainly mental, s&m exploration. Less classic than classified ad, Last Tango is the last Euro art film to have an impact on American cine-mores, as well as a memento mori, offering a final glimpse of Brando before he walled himself up in a pyramid of flesh.
