Some Like It Hot

Dir. Billy Wilder (1959). Two jazz musicians—Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon—witness a gangster massacre, escaping Chicago disguised as members of an all-female band whose featured performer is Marilyn Monroe (never sweeter). A corpse-littered farce riffing on homosexuality, cross-dressing, impotence, and masochism, Wilder’s greatest comedy was so popular one TV network considered it as the basis for a sitcom.
Sun., July 3, 2, 4:30, 6:50 & 9:30 p.m.; Mon., July 4, 2, 4:30, 6:50 & 9:15 p.m., 2011
