Prog rock is experiencing an unusual, Revenge of the Nerds-like resurgence, mostly due to metal bands who are sick of playing in 4/4 time signatures and are using the internet to rediscover bands such as Yes. Not that singing about roundabouts and lonely hearts (and their respective owners) is suddenly hip: Yes' current singer, after all, is the former frontman of a Yes tribute band. But the tolerance level for 23-minute guitar-and-keyboard duets will be unusually high tonight. With tourmates Styx, who come armed with their own arsenal of songs about people speaking polite Japanese to robots.
