Two Seconds

Dir. Mervyn LeRoy (1932). Hardboiled perfection: Mervyn LeRoy of all people is responsible for this supremely terse account of a construction-worker (Edward G. Robinson in high frothing mode) who is driven to murder by a no-good dame. The title refers to the amount of time he has on the hot seat, remembering the crime of passion that’s ending his miserable life.
