If you always wanted to attend a party at Gatsby’s mansion, the Jazz Age Dance Party happening today at Governors Island is as close as you’re going to get (unless you have a time machine). We can just picture it now: Everyone in shimmery flapper dresses and slick black suits with top hats. And that’s just the attire. Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra will provide a breeze of romance with their jazzy tunes that’ll have everyone doing the Charleston, the Shimmy, and the Foxtrot (instructors will be on hand to teach you). Bring a blanket, have a picnic, play some games, dance the day away, and relive the 1920s for the first time. Take the ferry from the Battery Maritime Building, 10 South Street.
