Photographing all over the world as a member of the esteemed Magnum photo agency, starting in 1953, Elliott Erwitt developed a keen eye for making celebrities look human and turning everyday life into something magical. For his latest show, "Personal Best" at ICP, the octogenarian chose 100 of his favorite photos. A witness to history, he included famous photographs such as a grieving Jackie Kennedy at her husband's funeral; Richard Nixon poking Nikita Khrushchev in the chest at the 1959 "Kitchen Debate," and a scene at a segregated water fountain in the Jim Crow–era South. Celebrity portraits include shots of Jack Kerouac, Grace Kelly, and screen goddess Marilyn Monroe looking utterly approachable in her bathrobe. The exhibit, now in its final week, also features his documentary films as well as never-before-seen prints from his early work.
