Inspector Harry Callahan of the San Francisco Police Department has no respect for the rules. “I shoot the bastard, that’s my policy,” he says. Dirty Harry, the 1971 thriller directed by Don Siegel. Clint Eastwood stars in the role (originally intended for Frank Sinatra) that would define his career. On the hunt for a serial killer who goes by the name Scorpio (inspired by the Zodiac killer), Harry takes down the bad guys with his notably long .44 Magnum and some of the most memorable one-liners in movie history (“You’ve got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?”) What better way to close out the Bryant Park Film Festival? Tonight, bring a blanket and grab a picnic dinner from the ’wichcraft kiosk in the park (order in advance by calling 212-780-0577). The lawn opens at 5, film starts between 8 and 9.
