RuPaul’s Drag Race is all well and good, and we’re happy for gender nonconformists getting all the exposure they can. But even with the rise of men in dresses all over TV, we’re still wondering: Where are the transmen? The answer: Brooklyn, of course! Murray Hill’s FTM pageant Mr. Transman returns for its second year and the contestants include a filmmaker, a hairstylist, a punk musician, a puppeteer, and a “champion” bagel maker. Judges World Famous *BOB*, Amos Mac (EIC of Original Plumbingmagazine), and Jennie Livingston (director of Paris Is Burning) will scrutinize the crème de la crème of transboys in categories including swimsuit, talent, and evening wear, with the winner snagging some cash, a duffle bag of sex toys, and a photo spread in OP. Today, trans media; tomorrow, the world!
