The Anthology Film Archives need no better advertisement for their new film program The Return of Nick Zeddthan these words from John "The Sultan of Sleaze" Waters, "Nick Zedd makes violent, perverted art films from hellhe's my kind of director." Sold! Zedd, once known as the "First Minister of Protocol" for the Cinema of Transgression, the New York filmmakers movement he spearheaded 25 years ago, returns to the city (he now lives in Mexico City) for a rare appearance. Today's "Program One: Police State Preserved and Other Works" is a compilation of his older short works, including his 1987 film Police State, a visual artifact of the L.E.S. before gentrification, War Is Menstrual Enemy, with Annie Sprinkle and Kembra Pfahler, Whoregasm, and Thrust in Me. Saturday's program looks at his more recent works.
