DRINK AND READ

Go bar hopping with your favorite lit mags and writers

True or false: There's nothing sexier than curling up with a good book and a tumbler of whisky on a Saturday night. Did you say true? Then, dear bibliophile, allow us to persuade you to leave your cozy armchair for just one evening to attend this year's Lit Crawl, a freewheeling bar crawl featuring more than 70 authors reading, singing, and dancing at 20 downtown venues, including KGB, Bowery Electric, and 310 Lounge. Highlights include BOMB magazine's "BOMB-aoke," a Paris Review event with the Dog House Band, FSG's Word Jeopardy, and SMITH Magazine's Six-Word Memoir Slam. It all wraps with a free after party at Gallery Bar (120 Orchard Street).
Sat., Sept. 10, 6 p.m., 2011
