These ladies from the ’80s just issued a new studio disc called Sweetheart of the Sun, which they made with semi-reclusive power-pop whiz Matthew Sweet. (Sweet and Susanna Hoffs have history, having worked together on music from Austin Powers and on a pair of excellent covers collections under the name Sid & Susie.) Like all of the Bangles’ stuff, Sweetheart is plenty tuneful, and though these melodies should appeal to all ages, you can bet the crowd will be long on old-timers tonight.
