It's hard to find a team with more history than that of the U.S. Military Academy. The Army Black Knights, who take on the Tulane Green Wave today, boast three national champions and three Heisman Trophy winners, as well as a couple of walk-ons named Dwight Eisenhower and Omar Bradley, who did OK later in life. Going to a game at West Point in the fall is as good as college football gets in New York, and this is a great opportunity to drive up the Palisades, do some tailgating, and sing "On Brave Old Army Team." The campus is set in an unbelievably scenic spot on the Hudson; you will also enjoy the relatively small Michie Stadium (capacity 40,000). If you don't have access to a car, Short Line Bus will take you from Port Authority to the West Visitor's Center. Be sure to allow extra time to get there, park, and get to the game—a lot of folks love Army football! And if you have time after the game, stop by the Bear Mountain Inn for coffee or drinks by the huge fireplace. A perfect capper.
