Jane’s Addiction have come down the mountain once again to deliver The Great Escape Artists, the fourth album of their sporadic 25-plus year career. In typical Jane’s fashion, the making of the album was arduous: They filtered through original bassist Eric Avery and former GN’R four-stringer Duff McKagan, hired TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek to play bass, and eventually settled on Chris Chaney, the dude who replaced Avery on their last comeback album. Luckily for them, none of this sort of drama has ever affected their eye-popping live performances, in which frontman Perry Farrell remains his generation’s P.T. Barnum.
