A product of the global student-protest movement in the late 1960s, Berlin-based artist Harun Farocki has long been interested in creating works that question the established rules. To coincide with Farocki’s show at MOMA, Images of War (at a Distance), Anthology Film Archives is screening some of his best films from his prolific 45-year career. On October 9 at 2:45, see How to Live in the German Federal Republic (1990), 32 short comic scenes taken from German instructional classes and test sessions on how to do everything from making a police arrest to putting on a striptease. Other highlights include An Image (1983), which goes behind the scenes at Playboy (screening October 7 at 9), and The Creators of the Shopping Worlds (2001), Farocki’s investigation into how shopping malls are designed (screening October 9 at 4:45).
Mondays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 4. Continues through Oct. 10, 2011
