More About

With Prohibition fever running rampant, Vince Giordano and his Nighthawks Orchestra are back in fashion, not that they weren't always the cat's pajamas. Boardwalk Empire enlisted these hot jazz revivalists to provide the authentic ragtime stomp, reviving the sound of artists from Scott Joplin to Jelly Roll Morton and W.C. Handy. Rain, sleet, or snow, Giordano has held court on Mondays at the Edison Hotel for years, as if this wormhole in time would otherwise close. Go to see what a bass saxophone looks like, go because stalwart WKCR disc jockey Phil Schaap says so, go to hear what your grandparents got down to.
