Not your average indie-film fest, the Royal Flush Festival, hosted by the esoteric pop-culture magazine Royal Flush, adds art, music, and even Japanese monsters to the mix for five days of fun. It kicks off tonight at the Knitting Factory [361 Metropolitan Avenue, Brooklyn, 347-529-6696] with a screening of Dirty Old Town, a documentary about the eccentric owner of Billy's Antiques and Props as he struggles to keep his store alive on the gentrified Bowery. Friday is the CD-release party for Brooklyn electronic-indie band Kid Savant at the Knitting Factory as well as the return of Kaiju Big Battel, in which professional wrestlers dress up as city-crushing Godzilla-esque monsters and go head to head in the ring at Warsaw [261 Driggs Avenue, Brooklyn, 718-387-0505]. Other highlights on the film schedule include Shan Nicholson's documentary, Rubble Kings, about the notorious NYC gangs of the 1970s, and Klaus Schneyder's Beatboxing: The Fifth Element of Hip Hop.
