How did Chromeo get so big? Not too terribly long ago, the Montreal electro-funk duo seemed destined for a career as the Vice subscriber’s pet musical novelty. But this weekend, singer Dave 1 and synthmeister P-Thugg headline a pair of sold-out shows at Terminal 5, which suggests that last year’s Business Casual reached a wider audience—one for whom a sweet Auto-Tuned vocal hook is its own reward. Here they appear with Mayer Hawthorne, the quirky West Coast soul man whose new How Do You Do deserves a similar reception.
