Now that Project Runway is finished, get your dose of reality at DOC NYC, the second-annual week-long festival of films, panels, and competitions devoted to the art of documentary. The fest, curated by the folks that bring you the “Stranger than Fiction” series at the IFC Center, began on Wednesday. With only four more days to go, check out today’s screening of Les Oeufs a la Coque de Richard Leacock, the filmmaker’s 1991 experimentation with Hi-8 video, which screens as part of a six-film tribute to the doc pioneer. Tomorrow, learn the infuriating story of what happened to the Sugarhill Gang post–“Rapper’s Delight” in Roger Paradiso’s I Want My Name Back; or catch Michael Moore, who will interview Jon Shenk after a screening of Shenk’s The Island President. The festival closes on Thursday with Project Nim, about a chimp that learned sign language, from Man on Wire’s James Marsh.
