With the critical shitstorm triggered by last year’s Congratulations safely behind them, MGMT appear to be getting back to the business of being indie’s premier art-pop pranksters. Case in point: their gig as the entertainment at the opening of the Guggenheim’s sly new Maurizio Cattelan retrospective, All. Friday’s public performance at the museum is already sold out, but tonight, deep-pocketed MGMT fans can check out what the band is calling “a one-of-a-kind, site-specific musical piece” for the nonmember price of $200. In a typically droll promotional video on the Guggenheim’s website, Benjamin Goldwasser says the show will include colors. So you can expect that.
