How do you get to the bottom of women’s sexuality? Talk to as many women as you can. Which is exactly what choreographer Gesel Mason did for her multimedia dance piece Women, Sex, & Desire: Sometimes You Feel Like a Ho, Sometimes You Don’t. Mason reached out to female sex workers, disadvantaged youth, university students, women, and the LGBT communities to inform the performance, which Mason hopes will create a dialogue exposing “our prejudices, expectations, and beliefs.” Expect a mix of postmodern dance, hip-hop, and pole-dancing—because just like sex, dance comes in all different forms.
