See how he got his arm up the butt of a ticklish monster in Constance Marks’s Sundance-acclaimed Being Elmo: A Puppeteer’s Journey, screening today at 2 as part of the BAMcinématek’s series Puppets on Film. Clash will be there to introduce the film, as will Martin P. Robinson (a/k/a Leonardo), when Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles screens next week. But the series isn’t all furry friends—there are slimy creatures (in Gremlins 2: The New Batch), drag queen aliens (in Arias with a Twist), and ancient Chinese warriors (in tonight’s Legend of the Sacred Stone). And, to help us prep for the forthcoming The Muppets, BAM’s showing of the much-overlooked Muppet Treasure Island, starring Tim Curry as the pirate Long John Silver.
