These are strange days, and Last Night on Earth, the band's most fully realized mood piece to date, offers an apocalyptic vision that dives deep into the depths of Hades. Under-the-radar avant-rock mainstays Jennifer Charles and Oren Bloedow recorded the haunting album in a dilapidated Crown Heights apartment and enlisted Thomas Bartlett of Doveman, John Medeski, and members of Bon Iver. For this, their U.S. release show, they'll be playing the full album. It might have made a nice alternate soundtrack to Lars von Trier's cataclysmic Melancholia, which is playing only one subway stop away, but this one just might be darker.
