Part of a two-night program dubbed Swedish Energies, Skull Defekts and co. converge on Gowanus as this pioneering field of experimental musicians transforms Issue Project Room into a Scandinavian bastion. The facto headliners, an art-punkazoid collective joined by the shamanistic poet, singer, lyricist, and bearded icon Daniel Higgs (formerly of Baltimore post-punks Lungfish), meticulously craft jarring Middle Eastern-tinged sonic jams and percussive maelstrom while Higgs spits, sneers, and moans through the glorious wreckage. Adding to the festivities is an appearance from sax titan Mats Gustafsson, who has worked with both Sonic Youth and Peter Brotzmann. Expect a shit-storm of apocalyptic sounds cascading over Brooklyn.
