Eight years ago, !!! (pronounced “Chk-Chk-Chk”) raised their middle fingers, not to mention their BPMs, with “Me and Giuliani Down by the Schoolyard,” a “fuck you” aimed at the former mayor’s habit of closing many of the city’s best nightclubs by invoking the 1926 cabaret laws that forbid dancing at all establishments not carrying a cabaret license. Then, moving your feet was a form of protest. Tonight at 285 Kent, it will be a way to blow off steam, let loose, and raise money for the DIY listings rag Showpaper. On their website, the band states that they’ll be trying out a few new tunes. Hopefully, they’ll be as pointed and infectious as the one that put them on the map.
