Ventura, California’s Big Bad Voodoo Daddy sprung onto the pop-music radar during the late ’90s’ inexplicable swing revival (spurred on by the 1996 movie Swingers) despite the fact that they'd been playing the music since the late ’80s. Like any good band that’s been swept up into a fad, though, the group—a brass-heavy nine-piece in concert—has stuck to its guns, its members still donning their pinstripe zoot suits and fedoras for concerts. They even put out an album of Cab Calloway classics in 2009.
