For those who never got to hobnob with the VIP crowd at Elaine's, this Upper East Side spot is only a block away and offers that quintessential marker of New York restaurant culture, live jazz. Trumpeter Jon Menges and his drummer-less trio dish out cool standards that complement the Continental fare, but things might heat up with versatile guitarist Pete McCann in the mix. McCann is a first-call sideman who has played with Lee Konitz, Brian Blade, and Kenny Wheeler and hails from Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the same hometown as Bon Iver frontman Justin Vernon.
