So it looks like that new restaurant coming to 199 Front Street will be Soul Daddy, the winner of America’s Next Great Restaurant.
That news comes from Eater, which reports that the “healthy soul food restaurant” will open three spots across the country, including the South Street Seaport location. Soul Daddy, which is the concept of Jamawn Woods, beat Spice Coast (billed as “Indian Chipotle”) and Brooklyn Meatball Company (self-explanatory) for the victory. Whether it will actually deserve the designation of America’s next great restaurant, let alone New York’s next above-average restaurant, remains to be seen, but one imagines that, either way, South Street Seaport tourists will eat it right up.
